Song: The Gilded Road,
Artist: Days of Rae (Shon & Cherie Cobbs) featuring Ryan Pula and Clint Trotter.
To begin, we wanted to finish the lyrics. Our main goal was to create a seamless transition between his lines and ours. Although the song was inspired by The Wizard of Oz, we liked that his references were subtle and we tried to mirror that style.
Adam's lyrics sounded like a verse as-is, so the plan was to write a couple more and extract a phrase to build a chorus around. Shon picked up his bass and found a progression; I followed along with my acoustic and the melody just happened.
Luckily we were able to hook up with our gifted friends Ryan Pula and Clint Trotter who graciously recorded our tracks and then contributed their talents (guitar, backing vocals, percussion) and created the final mix.
I love this series on MPR...I hope it continues. Thank you again for the opportunity!

You did a really good job of taking Levy's words and mirroring the style - very seamless and well matched with the sound. Nice, nice work.
