Man Behind the Curtain

The Wizard was looking for home too, in his way. Then he met Dorothy. When we wrote this song initially, it was about mice (My friend James confidently informs me that "Yesterday" was initially about scrambled eggs). It has evolved into a true story about my journey to Minnesota and getting married to my co-author, Darcy. As seen through the lens of the Great and Powerful Oz. Even humbugs have to face their past, eventually. Thanks to Darcy for her beautiful words and vocals, and to the other members of The Mighty Fine Wake Band (http://www.mightyfinewakeband.com), Jimmi and James for their eleven cents on how to make it a better song.

I like that you took on the Wizard's point of view. He's an interesting character and your song made me think about him in a new way. Plus it's a sweet song. Good work!

Considering how sweet it sounds and the lines, "leaving home will change you forever [..] but it follows you [..]" well, that's just right for the song.
